Who are Reef Solutions?
Reef Solutions is a government accredited company specialising in the installation of the latest solar panels, solar energy and photovoltaic systems designed around your needs to achieve maximum potential within their associated environment.
We as a company aim to achieve the best possible output for each system tailored to you needs and circumstances. We have a friendly team of energy assessors and installers who are fully trained in PV systems on hand to answer all of your questions. We do not use pushy sales tactics as we design our energy efficiency systems around your needs in order to bring down your ever increasing energy costs and daily rises in C02 Emissions .
- The Government have recently confirmed that new increased feed in tariffs for grid connected domestic Solar energy Installations will come into force on 1st April 2010.
- For someone fitting a typical 1.0kW solar energy system to an existing home (at a cost of around £6,500 plus VAT *), would receive a guaranteed payment of 41.3p per KWh generated will be paid whether that electricity is exported or used by the home owner. A further payment of 3p per kWh will be made for each unit not used and therefore exported to the grid. New-build properties fitted with solar panels will receive a lower tariff of 36.1p per kWh generated.
- The typical 1.0kW solar energy system will generate tax-free payments of around £500* per year, and so the buyback time on the investment is around 12 years depending on your electricity usage. These figures do not include for the ever increasing electricity prices which would also contribute and reduce your buy back time. Not only that you would also be adding up to an additional 8% equity on your home
- Therefore, if you are lucky enough to have £7000 in the bank AND have a south facing roof with approximately 8m2 of free roof space to site the system, you'll struggle to find a better financial investment than installing a solar panel array on your home.
News about solar power
Is SOLAR Energy suitable for my home?
For a Solar energy system, you’ll need a roof or wall that faces within 90 degrees of south, and isn’t overshadowed by e.g. trees or buildings. If the surface is in shadow for parts of the day, your system will generate less energy.
Is your roof strong enough to carry solar panels? Solar panels are not light and the roof must be strong enough to take their weight, especially if the solar panel is placed on top of existing tiles. If in doubt, we can assess this for you.
Do you need planning permission? In England and Scotland, you don’t need planning permission for most home solar energy systems as long as they’re below a certain size. However, you should check with your local planning officer if your home is a listed building, or is in a conservation area or World Heritage Site.
If planning permission is required as you may fall into any of the categories above we can produce detailed drawings tailored to your needs which would include submission to the local authorities as part of our service prior to installation.
In Wales and Northern Ireland, you still need to get planning permission before installing a solar electricity system - though the legislation may soon change. To find out how to apply for permission, contact you local authority.
